Coker Track and Field Lends a Hand at Kalmia Gardens 5k

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's and women's track and field teams were out in the Hartsville community, this time volunteering at the 5K Community Run/Walk at Kalmia Gardens on Sept. 5.

The Cobras were at the finish line to hand out water to participates, cheering on everyone that ran or walked in the race and some members of the teams ran in the race to help pace runners during the 5k event.
"As athletes we gained an understanding for what it means to participate in lifelong activities that sustain our health," said the group of volunteers. "The opportunity to encourage, motivate and provide support to the runners and walkers was very rewarding."
The Navy and Gold's season will get into full swing beginning on Jan. 9 when they travel to Columbia, S.C. for the Gamecock Indoor Open.
