
Softball Falls Short Against Montevallo
COLUMBUS Ga- The Coker University softball team fell in non-conference action today versus Montevallo by a score of 8-7 today (Feb. 12).

COLUMBUS Ga- The Coker University softball team fell in non-conference action today versus Montevallo by a score of 8-7 today (Feb. 12).
Coker's offense would start out slow as Montevallo would jump out to a 4-0 lead through the first two innings of the matchup.
The Cobras offense would get going in the third inning when Makayla Cuthbertson would double to left putting her in scoring position for Coker with one out. Coker would bring the game within one when Kayla Oswell would demolish a ball over the outfield wall, scoring Cuthbertson and Delaney Eaves walk for a 3RBI homerun.
Chloe Pelham would bring in the go-ahead run in the top of the fourth when her RBI double to left would score Ariana Fair and Ava Jay, putting Coker up 5-4.
Montevallo would answer the very next inning with a solo home run to tie the game right back up at 5-5.
In the top of the fifth, Jay's sacrifice fly to center would plate Bailey Douglas, giving Coker the one-run advantage.
Pelham would launch a solo home run to left in the top of the sixth to give Coker a two run advantage. Montevallo would answer with a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead over the Cobras and bringing the final game score to 8-7.
