Mullen and Pelham Named to Preseason All-Conference First Team, Softball Picked Seventh in SAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

FULL SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE RELEASE

ROCK HILL, S.C.- The Coker University softball team was tabbed seventh in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced on Tuesday, (Jan. 26). Coker's Isabelle Mullen and Chloe Pelham were named to the SAC Preseason All-Conference First Team.

Mullen, a junior pitcher out of Huntersville, North Carolina, receives SAC Preseason All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season. Last season, she recorded 36 strikeouts in 11 games before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  She is the daughter of Stephen and Ashley Mullen and is a business administration major.

Pelham, a junior infielder out of Goose Creek, South Carolina, returns to action for the Cobras after sitting out last season due to injury. In her first season at Coker, Pelham played in 45 games recording a .393 batting average, 21 RBIs, 34 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.  She was a Second Team All-Conference Selection as a freshman, as well as a NFCA All-Region Second Team selection. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Tonya Pelham and is a history major.

Coker begins the 2021 season under first year head coach Dr. Mackenzie Draine. Last year, the Cobras were 18-7 (3-1, SAC) before the rest of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coker posted a .260 batting average, 109 runs, 12 home runs, 166.2 innings pitched and 134 strikeouts.

The Cobras begin their season on Saturday, Feb. 6 when they host North Greenville for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. from Saleeby-Stokes Field, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
