HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College softball team swept Limestone College 6-1 and 2-1 in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday (Mar. 9). With the wins the Cobras improved to 17-4 this season.

Coker wasted no time in game one as they struck for four runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. With one out both Chloe Pelham and Allyson High walked, and Lilli Otten singled in the infield to load the bases. Maria Williamson drove in one with a sacrifice fly before Ashley Meckley ripped a triple down the right field line to score two. After a pitching change by the Saints Hannah Goodman followed up Meckley's triple with one of her own down the right field line to score a run. Williamson drove in a run in the second inning with another sacrifice fly that scored Pelham to extend the Coker lead to five. In the bottom of the sixth Pelham roped the Cobras' third triple of the day into right field and would later score on a sacrifice fly by High.

Christine Carver was dominant in the circle for the Navy and Gold as she picked up her fourth win of the season. Carver tossed five innings, giving up just two hits and one unearned run while striking out six batters. Isabelle Mullen came on in relief over the final two innings and locked it down, not allowing a single hit and striking out a pair of Saints.

The Cobras got on the board early once again in game two as the put up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. Pelham got it started once again with a one-out single to right and stole second to put a runner on second with just one out. High doubled in Pelham for the first run and High would later score after the right fielder dropped a fly ball from Williamson. The Saints would get one back in the fifth and were threatening in the seventh with runners on first and third with just one out. Meckley made an amazing diving grab for a ground ball to her left and flipped it over to Mindy North for the first out and North fired it over to first for the second just in time to end the ballgame.

Taylor Forehand got the nod in game two and came out firing, allowing just four hits in her six innings of work while giving up a run and striking out three batters. Mullen came on in relief for the second consecutive game and gave up a pair of hits in a third of an inning of work. Jordyn Goodman grabbed the save after coming on with two on and no outs, inducing the game-ending double play that ended the game.

The Cobras will be back in action on Tuesday (Mar. 12) for a non-conference doubleheader against UNC Pembroke beginning at 2:00 PM.
