HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College softball team picked up a win in game one of their non-conference doubleheader with North Greenville on Tuesday (Feb. 26). 

The Cobras came out on top in the first game 2-0 in what turned out to be an absolute pitcher's dual. Coker opened the scoring in the first inning after Allyson High reached on an error that scored Chloe Pelham. It was not until the sixth that another runner crossed the plate as once again High reached on an error to score Pelham as the Cobras won 2-0.

Taylor Forehand got the win in the cirlce after tossing five scoreless innings, giving up just four hits and striking out four. Christine Carver came out of the bullpen for the save, pitching two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts. 

Game two was much of the same as both pitchers came out dealing, not allowing a single run through the first five innings. The Crusaders struck first in the top of the sixth with three runs to jump out in front. The Cobras responded in the bottom half with one thanks to a sacrifice fly by Lilli Otten that scored Ashley Meckley but that would be it as they fell 3-1 in game two and put them at 13-3 on the season. 

Isabelle Mullen got the nod in game two while tossing four and a third scoreless innings with three strikouts. Jordyn Goodman made an appearance in relief of Mullen and threw one inning, giving up one hit and allowing a run. Carver was hit with the loss after allowing two runs in her one inning of work and Forehand pitched the final inning for the Cobras.

Coker will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 1) when they travel to Columbus State to take on Lynn in the first day of the 2019 CSU Classic.
