HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College softball team extended its winning streak to start the season to eight games on Wednesday (Feb. 13), sweeping Augusta University in a non-conference doubleheader.

The Cobras jumped out to an early lead in the first after Maria Williamson knocked in Anna Gluhosky with single and Gluhosky tacked on two more runs in the third with a homerun to left field. Lauren DeWitt added another in the inning following a laser beam that cleared the center field fence, putting the Cobras up 4-0 in the third. The Jaguars would claw back and take the lead after scoring five runs in the top of the fourth before Chloe Pelham powered Coker back out in front with a two-run blast. Katelyn Chambers added an RBI groundout later in the inning and Taylor Forehand came out of the bullpen to close out game one.

Christine Carver moved to 2-0 on the season after starting and picking up the win, tossing four innings and giving up just four hits while striking out three. Forehand received the save following her three innings of no-hit relief and striking out four Jaguars.

Augusta struck first in the second game, plating two runs in the first inning. Coker responded in the second with a pair of runs of their own following RBIs from Mindy North and Gluhosky. In the top of the fifth Lilli Otten put the Cobras on top for the first and final time in game two with a three-run shot to left field. Gluhosky would plate another run and Ashley Meckley ripped a two RBI triple into center field to extend the Coker lead to six in the bottom of the sixth inning. DeWitt would came game just one batter later after she demolished a pitch over the batting cage in left field, giving the Cobras an 11-2 win in six innings.

Isabelle Mullen rebounded strong for the win after giving up her first two earned runs of the season, going five innings and striking out five batters. Forehand came out of the bullpen once again and tossed an inning of no-hit ball, striking out a pair of batters.
