Cobras Land Six Players on All-Conference Squad

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Six members of the Coker College softball team were named to the 2017 All-SAC team, the South Atlantic Conference league office announced today. 

Mindy North was named to the first team as a utility player. Maria Williamson was named to the second team at first base. Cacey Simmons, Kelsi Bachmann, Hannah Price and Taylor Forehand were all named to the honorable mention team, Simmons and Bachmann earning the honors in the outfield, Price at third base and Forehand as a pitcher.

North, a sophomore from Clayton, N.C., appeared in 34 games this season, batting .284, with 19 hits, 18 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and five RBI. She appeared in 14 games during conference play, batting .424 with 14 hits.

She is a parks and recreation major and is the daughter of Jeri and John North.

Williamson, a sophomore from Laurens, S.C., has appeared in all 52 games for the Cobras, compiling a .363 batting average. She ranks inside the top-10 of the SAC in hits, doubles, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. Her 14 home runs are good enough for the top spot in the SAC, while her 54 RBI are second. Her .696 slugging percentage is fourth in the SAC, while she is eighth with 62 hits and 13 doubles.

She is the daughter of Jenny and L.E. Williamson and is an education major.

Simmons, a junior from Dover, Fla., appeared in 46 games during her first season at Coker, compiling a .313 batting average. She collected 40 hits during the regular season, to go along with 34 runs scored, 25 RBI, 14 stolen bases and a SAC-leading six triples.

She is the daughter of Lancia and Curtis Simmons and is a parks and recreation major.

Bachmann appeared in 51 games during her freshman season, compiling a .295 batting average. She finished the regular season with 46 hits, 44 runs scored, 16 RBI, 10 stolen bases and five doubles. Her 44 runs scored ranks fourth in the South Atlantic Conference.

She is a Myrtle Beach, S.C. native and is the daughter of Pam and Kevin Bachmann. She is a social sciences major.

Price has appeared in 50 games during her junior season, compiling a .338 batting average. She ranks third on the Coker roster with 51 hits, 37 RBI and 10 doubles. Her RBI total ranks eleventh in the SAC, while her hits and doubles tally is inside the top-25. She was named AstroTurf SAC Softball Player of the Week on Feb. 14.

She is a Surfside Beach, S.C. native and is the daughter of Angie and Dan Price. She is also a parks and recreation major.

Forehand made 28 appearances in the circle during her sophomore season, recording 21 starts. She finished the regular season with a 12-2 record, a 2.04 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 116.2 innings pitched. She ranks sixth in the SAC in ERA and her 12 wins are good enough for ninth. Forehand's season was highlighted by not dropping a decision from Feb. 18 until Apr. 11. She was named AstroTurf SAC Softball Pitcher of the Week on Apr. 11.

She is a mathematics and science major from New Bern, N.C. and is the daughter of Gina and Cliff Forehand.

The Cobras will be back on the field on Thursday (Apr. 27) at 5:30 p.m. to take on Anderson in the South Atlantic Conference Championship Tournament.
