Williamson's Powerful Bat Garnering National Attention

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College softball player Maria Williamson has been nothing short of spectacular through the opening two months of the 2017 Coker softball season. With her power surge during her sophomore campaign, Williamson is beginning to draw some national attention.

Through 38 games, Williamson ranks first in NCAA Division II in total bases, with 98 total bases in 126 at-bats. The sophomore from Laurens, S.C. continues to be a consistent power threat in the middle of the lineup for the Navy and Gold, ranking second in NCAA Division in home runs this season, with 12 long balls. She also ranks seventh in NCAA DII with 43 RBI, 18th in doubles with 12 and 21st in total hits with 48.

Within the South Atlantic Conference, Williamson's 12 home runs and 43 RBI are good enough to lead the SAC, while her hits, doubles and .778 slugging percentage are inside the top five.

Williamson is the daughter of Jenny an L.E. Williamson.
