Cobras Welcome Bulldogs to Town for SAC Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team (19-18) will be back at the friendly confines of Saleeby-Stokes softball field on Wednesday (Apr. 8) to take on the visiting Wingate University Bulldogs in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. with gates opening at 1 p.m. Live stats and video can be found at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are led offensively by outfielder Riley Morris. Morris is inside the top 10 in numerous SAC statistical categories. Her .400 batting average is eighth in the conference. She is seventh in the conference in RBIs (31) and triples (2). She is sixth in hits (46) and in home runs with (7). She is also 10th in runs scored with 28 and fifth in doubles with 10. Ashley Gallman is second in the SAC with 12 doubles to go along with a .367 batting average. Ashlee Ellen is batting .310 and is seventh in doubles with nine on the season. Classmate Katelyn Szupello is batting .365 which is top 20 in the SAC.

Tabitha Allen's 1.84 ERA and 11 wins are in the top five in SAC pitching stats.

The Bulldogs travel to Hartsville with a 22-14 overall and a 9-5 in conference record. They are led by Alexis Burrell who has a .376 batting average, 43 RBIs and 12 home runs.

Game one is set to start at 2 p.m. with game two beginning immediately afterwards. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
