
Cobras Drop Non-Conference Matchup Against Braves
The Coker softball team lost a heartbreaking game to the UNC Pembroke Braves 4-3 on Sunday (Feb. 8) in their final game of the UNCP Invitational.
PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Coker College softball team dropped a tightly contested 4-3 matchup to the UNC Pembroke Braves in their final game of the UNCP Invitational on Sunday (Feb. 8).
The Navy and Yellow were led offensively by preseason All-SAC selection Ashlee Ellen. Ellen went 1-for-3 at the dish; scoring a run and racking up a team best two RBIs. Third baseman Ashley Gallman finished the afternoon going 2-for-3 and picking up an RBI.
Tabitha Allen (2-2) would be tabbed with the loss. She gave up an earned run and four hits over an inning and a third.
Gallman, along with outfielder Riley Morris, were both named to the UNCP Invitational All-Tournament team. Morris batted .538 with two home runs, three RBIs and five runs scored, while Gallman hit .400 with a home run a double and three RBIs.
The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 14) for their home opener against Barton College. The non-conference doubleheader will start at 1 p.m. with game two starting at 3 p.m.
