
King Jumps Cobras With Series Sweep
The Cobras lost in two conference game on Sunday (Apr. 7), against King University.
BRISTOL, TENN. – The Coker softball team suffered two losses on Sunday (Apr. 7) against King University in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader. The loss drops the Cobras to 22-14 overall with a league record of 11-7.
King took an early 2-0 lead on the Cobras, after scoring a run in the second and third innings. Meanwhile the Cobras struggled at the plate and only gathered a team total of four hits. The Tornado would go on to score three runs in the fifth to take control of game one with a score of 5-0.
The offense picked up in game two, after Sarah Rountree started off the game with a single. Junior Sydney Weatherford would then follow with a single of her own, pushing Rountree to third. Weatherford would then steal second, to put two runners in scoring position.
With two outs and two runners on, Ashley Gallman sent a shot down the right field line to drive in two RBIs. The Cobras would take a quick 2-0 lead over King in the top of the first inning.
The lead however, would not last as King went on to capture game two with a final score of 7-2.
Coker will continue their road journey as they travel to face Erskine on Saturday (Apr. 13) in their next competition. Game one of the series will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by game two at 3:00 p.m.
