Coker Softball Set to Host Bearcats
The Coker softball team will host Lander University on Wednesday (Mar. 27) in a non-conference doubleheader.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker softball team will host Lander University on Wednesday (Mar. 27) in a non-conference doubleheader. Live video coverage of the game will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
In their most recent competition the Cobras (18-12) swept Edinboro University in a doubleheader 7-4 and 4-3.
Seniors Sarah Roundtree and Jaclin Poole are the team leaders at the plate with batting averages of .341 and .315. Rountree has been credited with 28 hits, 16 runs, three doubles, two homeruns and 10 RBIs, while Poole has earned 29 hits, 10 runs three doubles, one triple, two homeruns and 12 RBIs.
Junior Lauren Phillips has been successful on the mound with an ERA of 1.81 on the year, and Breanna Skipper has also found success with an ERA of just 2.31.
Lander (11-22) is coming off a tough series loss to Georgia Southwestern in their most recent competition. Bethany Beggs and Brittney Sheriff lead the Bearcats at the plate with team high batting averages of .400 and .382.
Game one of the series is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by game two at 4:00 p.m.
