
Cobras Take On Knights in Double-Header
The Coker Softball team will host St. Andrews College on Friday (Feb. 15) at the Saleeby-Stokes field.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Softball team will host St. Andrews College on Friday (Feb. 15) at the Saleeby-Stokes field. Live video broadcast of the game will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
The Cobras are coming off a series split with Newberry College on Sunday (Feb. 10), after winning the first game of the double-header 5-4 and losing the second 5-3.
Katelyn Szupello leads the Cobra offense with her .636 batting average on the year. Senior Sarah Rountree continues to do her job as the leadoff hitter, with a batting average of .385 and two RBIs.
Pitching has been strong for the Cobras thus far, thanks to freshman Breanna Skipper and junior Lauren Phillips. Phillips has a record of 2-1 this year with an ERA of 2.88. Skipper (0-0) has collected an ERA of 2.80 after only allowing five hits.
St. Andrews (2-2), is coming off a home opening sweep over opponent Concord University. As a team the Knights are batting .290 and averaging more than four runs per game. St. Andrews pitching has earned a 5.75 ERA after 24.1 innings pitched.
The first game of the series will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the second game at 3p.m.
