Coker Drops Conference Doubleheader to King

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Coker softball team suffered a pair of Conference Carolinas losses to King College in their final regular season games of the season on Thursday afternoon. The Cobras lost the first game 12-1 and game two 11-6.

Jaclin Poole and Sydney Weatherford were the leading hitters in game one. Poole had a double with an RBI and Weatherford was 1-for-2 with a triple and a run scored.

In game two, Bryant McLendon drove in two runs on a home run, while Samantha Sparrow, Alex Cataldo, Weatherford and Poole each had two hits.

Becky Dillon (6-7) was the losing pitcher in game one, allowing five runs on four hits in an inning and a third of work.

Katie Lee (5-5) was tagged with the loss in the second game. She went 5.2 innings giving up nine runs on 15 hits with five strikeouts.

The Cobras now wait to see who their opponent will be in the 2012 Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament. The eight-team double elimination tournament hosted by Coker, runs from April 20-22 at Byerly Park in Hartsville. Currently, the Cobras are in seventh place in the league standings.
