Cobras Sweep Saints

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Gina Easler (Edgefield, S.C.) belted a home run in each of Coker's games against Limestone, helping the Cobras earn a two game sweep of the Saints on Saturday. Coker won game one 6-2 and then held on to win game two 5-4. The wins improve the Cobras to 15-15 overall and 8-8 in Conference Carolinas.

GAME ONE

In game one, it was Easler and Sydney Weatherford (Scranton, S.C.) that led the offense. Both players sent balls over the fence; Easler's was a solo shot, while Weatherford's was a grand slam.  Jennifer Sanborn (Beaufort, S.C.) drove in the Cobras other run of the game with a pitch hit RBI single.

Becky Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) (4-4) earned the win. She allowed just two runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings in the circle. She also struck out three.

GAME TWO

In game two the Cobras scored five runs in the first inning and then held off the Saints for the remaining six to take home the 5-4 win.

Easler had a three-run homer, while Stacy Burr (Darlington, S.C.) had an RBI and Clarissa Suttle (Piedmont, S.C.) had a pair of hits.

Three Cobra pitchers combined to keep the Saints at bay. Katie Lee (Debray, Fla.)  (5-2) took home the win with 2.2 innings of work, allowing three runs on four hits. Dillon got the save. She held Limestone scoreless and allowed just one hit in two innings of work.

The Cobras will be back on the diamond for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon at home against Flagler College.

Easler had two home runs and four RBIs in Coker's two games.

The McDonald's Player of the Game is presented by the Hartsville McDonald's and is given to the most outstanding performer during each Coker College home athletic event.
