GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Cobra softball team suffered a pair of losses to Limestone College on Saturday afternoon in collegiate softball. Coker lost game one 1-0 and then was defeated in game two by a score of 6-2.

GAME ONE

The Cobras were held to just three hits, while they committed five errors in the 1-0 loss to the Saints.  Limestone scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the first, and from there on were held scoreless.

Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.) took the loss for the Cobras allowing just one unearned run on five hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work.

Haleigh Rogers (Ward, S.C.), Gina Easler (Edgefield, S.C.) and Sydney Weatherford (Scranton, S.C.) had a hit each for the Cobras.

GAME TWO

Game two was a scoreless affair until the Saints posted six runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead. Coker answered with a pair of runs in the sixth, but the Cobras were unable to close the gap anymore. Five of Limestone’s six runs were unearned.

Jordan Atkinson (Bishopville, S.C.) was tagged with the loss allowing six runs on 10 hits in six innings of work.

Easler and Katie McElveen (Hartsville, S.C.) had two hits each with Easler scoring a run, while Weatherford had a double with an RBI and Alex Cataldo (Sumter, S.C.) drove in the Cobras other run of the ball game.

The Cobras are back on the diamond Sunday at Wingate University for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
