HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Cobras split their Conference Carolinas softball twin bill with St. Andrews on Monday afternoon winning game one 4-0 and losing game two 1-0. Both games were pitchers duels with both teams combining for just 19 hits in 14 innings of softball action.

GAME ONE

In game one Coker’s Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.)(4-3) had the Knight’s number as she held St. Andrews scoreless through seven innings, allowing just four hits while striking out four. Along the way the Cobra offense did their part scoring four runs on seven hits.

Ashley Disque (2-16) took the loss for the Knights. She threw six innings allowing four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.

Sarah Rountree (Plantation, Fla.) and Clarissa Suttle (Piedmont, S.C.) were each 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Cobras at the plate. Suttle also had a double and scored a run, while Haleigh Rogers (Ward, S.C.) and Sydney Weatherford (Scanton, S.C.) each had a double, with Weatherford driving in a run.

For the Knights, four separate hitters each collected a hit; Tiffany Harris, Brandie Hunt, Alyssa Carlson and Disque with Hunt’s hit going for a double.

GAME TWO

In game two it was St. Andrews’ Disque (3-16) that had Coker’s number as she held the Cobras scoreless through seven innings allowing just four hits with two strikeouts. The Knights collected just four hits of their own, but managed to sneak a run across to win the game in the sixth inning.

Greenwalt (4-4) took the loss for the Cobras, she went seven innings allowing a run on four hits with three strikeouts.

Katie McElveen (Hartsville, S.C.) was the Cobra offense in game two, she had three of the four hits including a double, with Bri Jacobs (Bolton, N.C.) picking up the fourth hit.

Harris was the leading hitter for the Knights; she was 2-for-3 with a double and the game’s only run scored. Megan Soots drove in the run and Lex Cowger and Hunt each had a hit.

Coker is back in action on Tuesday when they host St. Augustine’s College in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
