Game Nine- #4 Anderson - 6 vs. #8 Coker- 2 | Box Score

In the first game of day two in the 2010 Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament Coker College played Anderson University.  Anderson came away with a 6-2 victory.  Junior Alex Waldrop earned the win for Anderson, going four innings and surrendering just two runs.  Senior Katie Van Gieson went three innings and picked up a save.  Coker’s lefty junior Sydney Greenwalt was charged with the loss as she gave up six runs over six innings.  Greenwalt struck out four hitters.

Coker was led offensively by junior Haleigh Rogers who went 3-for-4 with a solo homerun.  Freshman Jaclin Poole went 2-for-2 with a solo shot of her own.  Senior Anna Oswald also had a hit. 

Anderson compiled eight hits in the game, including three from sophomore Amber Sutherland who was 3-for-4 on the day.  Senior Meredith Knox and junior Cameron White each had a hit and two runs batted in on the day.  Junior Emily Monteith and senior Kasey King each had a hit and an RBI.  Junior Kinsley Durham also had a hit.

Coker was eliminated from play, and finished their season at 15-25.  Anderson will move on to play Pfeiffer University at 1:00 p.m.

Game Ten- #2 Erskine - 2 vs. #7 Pfeiffer- 3 | Box Score

Pfeiffer University took on Erskine College in an elimination game.  Pfeiffer picked up a win 3-2.  Pfeiffer junior Allison Braswell picked up the victory going one and a third innings in relief.  Braswell did not give up any runs and struck out one hitter.  Freshman Kelsey Spurrier is charged with the loss for Erskine.  Spurrier went seven innings, giving up three runs, and striking out eight. 

Pfeiffer was led by senior Kylee Nichols who had two hits and an RBI.  Freshman Amber Johnson also had two hits.  Freshman Mariah Chalk and sophomore Heather Nobles each picked up an RBI. 

Erskine managed only five hits.  Junior Lindsey LaPrad had a hit and two runs batted in.  Senior Kelly Davis, freshman Larissa Shannon, junior Kerry Fincher, and junior Jocelyn Smith each had a hit.

Pfeiffer advances to play Anderson University at 1:00 p.m.  Erskine College was eliminated from play and finished their season at 23-23-1.

Game Eleven- #4 Anderson - 4 vs. #7 Pfeiffer- 2 | Box Score

Pfeiffer University played Anderson University in an elimination game at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.  Anderson won 4-2 in the eighth inning on a walk-off two run blast by senior Meredith Knox.  Junior Casey Deer got the win for Anderson, she pitched all eight innings.  Deer only gave up two runs on seven hits, and racked up eight strikeouts.  Junior Allison Braswell got the loss for Pfeiffer, going seven plus innings.  Braswell gave up four runs on eight hits, and struck out just one.

Pfeiffer’s senior Kylee Nichols went 2-for-3.  Freshman Amber Johnson and sophomore Heather Nobles both had a hit and an RBI.  Junior Sarah Waylock, senior Bryttny Kreshka, and sophomore Andrea Wagner each had a hit of their own.

Anderson was led by senior Meredith Knox who went 1-for-2 with three runs batted in.  Junior Kinsley Durham went 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Sophomore Amber Sutherland, senior Elisa Sebastyan, junior Emily Monteith, junior Lyndsey Huitt, and junior Cameron White all had a hit each.

Pfeiffer University was eliminated from play and finished their season at 21-29.  Anderson University moves on to play the loser of #1 seed Limestone and # 3 seed Queens University of Charlotte at 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

Game Twelve- #1 Limestone - 2 vs. #3 Queens- 5 | Box Score

The final game of the winner’s bracket in the 2010 Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament was between Queens University of Charlotte and Limestone College.  Queens defeated Limestone 5-2 in nine innings.  Junior Brandy Jester got the win for Queens, she went three shutout innings.  Freshman Leah Quant of Limestone is charged with the loss.  Quant pitched three and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs, and striking out six. 

Sophomore Chantel Dodge started the game for Queens, and she went six innings, giving up two runs, with eight strikeouts.  Brandy Jester went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.  Senior Megan Campbell went 2-for-4 with a three run shot in the top half of the ninth.  Junior Beth Richie had two hits of her own.  Junior Alisha Waldrop, sophomore Keeya Turner, and junior Maria Goode each had a hit.

Limestone junior Emily Wallace started the game for the Lady Saints and pitched five and one-third innings.  Wallace gave up two runs on six hits and struck out one hitter.  Limestone managed just four hits in the game.  Senior Kayla Hamalainen went 1-for-2 with a run batted in, as did junior Hannah Mills.  Freshman Lauren Myers and sophomore Mallory Kuykendall also had a hit each. 

Limestone suffered their first loss of the tournament and will play Anderson University at 6:15 p.m. Saturday.  Queens University of Charlotte will advance to the Championship Game where they will play either Limestone College or Anderson University.

Game Thirteen- #1 Limestone - 4 vs. #4 Anderson- 2 | Box Score

Limestone College played Anderson University in an elimination game to decide which team would play Queens University of Charlotte for the 2010 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship.  Limestone defeated Anderson 4-2.  Junior Emily Wallace earned the win for Limestone.  Wallace pitched seven innings giving up just two runs and striking out five.  Senior Donya Cobb is charged with the loss for Anderson.  Cobb pitched two innings and surrendered four runs.

Anderson University had six hits, and junior Kinsley Durham went 2-for-3 on the day.  Senior Meredith Knox and senior Kasey King each had an RBI.  Senior Elisa Sebastyan, sophomore Amber Sutherland, and sophomore Amber Duncan all had a hit of their own.

Limestone College sophomore Mallory Kuykendall and twin sister Kelsey Kuykendall each went 2-for-3.  Sophomore Jordan Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Freshman Lauren Myers went 1-for-3   with two runs batted in.  Senior Kayla Hamalainen, sophomore Jenna Guse, and freshman Kirstyn Burelson each had a hit of their own.  After back-to-back hits to start the top of the seventh inning, Emily Wallace worked out of a jam getting the next three batters out to send Limestone to the Championship Game.

Anderson University was eliminated from the tournament; they finish their season with a 27-18 record.  Limestone advanced to the Championship Game, where they will face Queens University of Charlotte at noon Sunday.
