DUE WEST, S.C. – The Lady Cobra softball team lost both games of their Conference Carolinas double-header against Erskine College on Monday afternoon, losing game one 8-0 and then falling in game two 6-4. Both games were shortened, with game one ending in five innings due to the eight run rule, with game two ending in the sixth inning due to darkness.

After the day the Lady Cobras are 12-23 on the year and 5-13 in conference play. Coker is now just two game behind Barton College for the eighth and final spot in the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament. Coker will get their chance to overtake Barton when the Lady Cobras host Barton in their final home games of the season on Tuesday starting at 2:00 p.m.

Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.) took the loss in game one, allowing six runs on seven hits in two innings of work. Greenwalt also was tagged with the loss in game two allowing four runs on three hits in two innings on the mound.

Haleigh Rogers (Ward, S.C.) was Coker’s leading hitter for the day, with four hits, including a home run, two RBIs and a run scored, while Miranda Klees (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) also had four hits and an RBI. Anna Oswald (Lexington, S.C.) had three hits and Brittany Owens (Johnsonville, S.C.) had two hits.

Coker needs to win both games against Barton on Tuesday in order to move into the eighth spot for the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The tournament is hosted by Coker and begins on Friday, April 16 at Byerly Park in Hartsville.
