HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team swept St. Augustine’s College in their non-conference double-header, winning game one 21-0 and then winning game two 15-1. The wins improve the Lady Cobras to 12-19 on the year.

Between games, Coach David Hanna and the Lady Cobras honored their four seniors with a special ceremony in recognition of their final home games of the season. The seniors are Brittany Owens (Johnsonville, S.C.), Miranda Klees (Murrells Inlet, ,S.C.), Julia Nelson-Abbott (Evans, Ga.) and Anna Oswald (Lexington, S.C.).

Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.) (9-9) picked up the win in game one, tossing five shutout innings of softball; allowing just one hits with 10 strikeouts, while Becky Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) (3-5) got the win in game two, allowing just on e run on two hits with just six strikeouts.

Leading the Lady Cobras at the plate for the day was Owens with four hits including a grand slam home run, eight RBIs and four runs scored, while Klees had five hits, five RBIs and five runs scored. Oswald had four hits, including two doubles, with three RBIs and four runs scored. Jordan Atkinson (Bishopville, S.C.) also had four hits and three RBIs for Coker, while Nelson-Abbott had a pair of hits, including a double with two runs batted in and two runs scored.

The Lady Cobras hit the diamond once again on Saturday, when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on Queens University of Charlotte in a Conference Carolinas match-up. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
