HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Lady Cobras softball team was unable to pick up a win against Limestone College in Conference Carolinas softball action on Thursday afternoon, falling 4-1 in game one and 5-0 in game two. The wins improve the No. 1 team in the Conference Carolinas standings to a perfect 6-0 in conference play and 23-14 overall, while Coker falls to 2-8 in the conference and 7-18 overall.

GAME ONE

Limestone used 11 hits to score four runs, while they held Coker to just one run on four hits to pick up the 4-1 win in game one.

Emily Wallace got the win for the Saints on the mound. She gave up just one run on four hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Coker’s Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.)(6-9) was tagged with the loss. She allowed four runs on nine hits with six strikeouts.

Just one Lady Cobras had multiple hits; Brittany Owens (Johnsonville, S.C.) was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Sarah Price (Little Rock, S.C.) had a double with an RBI.

Kelsey Kuykendall and Kayla Hamalainen were both 2-for-4 with a double and RBI to pace the Saints, while Jordan Smith had three hits and scored a run.

GAME TWO

In game two the Saints took advantage of five Coker errors, plated five runs and were able to keep the Lady Cobras off the board to secure the 5-0 victory.

Leah Quant went the distance for Limestone to pick up the win, allowing five hits and no runs with six strikeouts.

Beck Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) (1-4) took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in seven innings of work, while striking out four.

Owens was again the only Coker player with multiple hits, picking up another pair, including a double, while Anna Oswald (Lexington, S.C.), Ashley Coleman (Charleston, S.C.) and Julia Nelson-Abbott (Evans, Ga.) each had a hit for the Lady Cobras.

Leading the Saints was Mallory Kuykendall with a pair of hits, while Hamalanien had a solo home run and Kelsey Kuykendall and Kirstyn Burleson each drove in a run.

Coker returns to the field on Saturday, when they travel to Laurinburg, N.C. to take on the St. Andrews Knights in a conference double-header starting at 2:00 p.m.
