HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker and Pfeiffer met in a Conference Carolinas softball double-header on Saturday afternoon and both teams came away with a win, as the two teams split their season series. Coker took game one with a five inning shortened 8-0 win over the Lady Falcons, but Pfeiffer bounced right back and gave the Lady Cobras a 4-1 beating in game two. After the day of softball Coker is now 7-12 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while Pfeiffer is 13-17 overall and 5-5 in the conference.

GAME ONE

Game one was highlighted by a superb pitching performance by Coker’s Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.) Greenwalt held the Lady Falcons to just two hits in five innings, while allowing no runs and striking out five. The victory was her sixth of the year, giving her a 6-5 record on the mound.

Pfeiffer’s Allison Braswell took the loss. She gave up three runs on four hits in just an inning and a third of work.

Anna Oswald (Lexington, S.C.) was perfect at the plate for Coker, going 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Jaclin Poole (Clover, S.C.) was also perfect, going 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Ashley Coleman (Charleston, S.C.), Brittany Owens (Johnsonville, S.C.), Sarah Price (Little Rock, S.C.) and Bri Jacobs (Bolton, N.C.) each drove in a run for the Lady Cobras.

Kylee Nichols and Bryttny Kreshka were the only Lady Falcons to get hits, each of them had one.

GAME TWO

In game two, it was Pfeiffer’s Melanie Conklin that turned in the stellar pitching performance that led the Lady Falcons to their 4-1 win. Conklin held Coker to just one run on four hits in seven innings of work, while striking out four.

Coker starter Beck Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) was tagged with the loss. She went 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.

Nichols led the Pfeiffer offense with a 3-for-4 performance, including scoring a run, while Heather Nobles drove in a pair of runs and Sarah Waylock had an RBI and a run scored.

Haleigh Rogers (Ward, S.C.) drove in Coker’s only run, while Oswald, Coleman and Owens each picked up a hit.

The Lady Cobras return to the diamond on Sunday, when they travel to Salisbury, N.C. to face Catawba College in a non-conference double-header. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
