Hartsville, S.C. – Coker College Softball Coach, David Hanna, announced today that five student-athletes have been selected Academic All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the 2008-09 academic year.
In order to qualify for the academic honor each student-athlete must have acquired a 3.5 GPA or greater for the year.
The following Lady Cobras received this prestigious honor: senior Miranda Klees (Murrells Inlet, S.C.), juniors Whitney Wallett (Shermans Dale, Pa.) and Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.), sophomore Becky Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and former Lady Cobra Shelly Catlett. This is the second time that Klees, Wallett and Greenwalt have received this honor, while this marks the fourth year that Catlett has been named a Academic All-American.
Coker opens their 2010 season on Feb. 7, as they host Wingate University in a non-conference double-header starting at 1:00 p.m.
