Thomasville, N.C.> Coker College’s Haleigh Rogers (15-9 overall, 4-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas softball Player of the Week during week number five in the 2008 season. Haleigh Rogers led the Coker Lady Cobras softball team to an astonishing 7-0 record for the week, including a pair of wins against nationally ranked opponents. Rogers was the offensive leader for Coker, batting a stellar .478 on the week, going 11-for-23 with a double, a home run, 12 RBI and seven runs scored. Haleigh was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI against No. 13 ranked UNC-Pembroke, but was held hitless against No. 23 Lenoir-Rhyne. On the year, Rogers leads Coker with a .367 batting average and 21 RBI, while playing in all 24 games this season as a freshman.

Thomasville, N.C.> Coker College’s Shelly Catlett (15-9 overall, 4-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas softball Pitcher of the Week during week number five in the 2008 season. Shelly Catlett was a perfect 4-0 on the week, including two wins against nationally ranked opponents. Catlett had an ERA of 1.68 in 25 innings of work, while fanning 31 batters in the process, giving her an almost five strike outs for every walk she had ratio. Shelly aided her cause on the mound by going 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored against No. 13 UNC-Pembroke and she was 1-for-2 with an RBI against No. 23 Lenoir-Rhyne. On the year, Catlett is 9-5 with a 2.40 ERA and 95 strikeouts.
