Florence, S.C. – With a pair of wins Sunday afternoon, the Coker Softball Team was a perfect 3-0 at the Patriot Invitational Softball Tournament. In their first game of the day, the Lady Cobras defeated their second nationally ranked opponent of the weekend, defeating #23 Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-2. Their second game of the day gave Coker a 5-1 win over Shepherd College, improving their record to 15-9 overall.

In game one, Whitney Wallett (Shermans Dale, PA) hit what turned out to be the game winning two run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving the Lady Cobras a 3-2 lead and eventual win.

Shelly Catlett (Orangeburg, SC) picked up the win going seven strong innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with six strike outs.

Wallett was a perfect 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, while Catlett helped herself, going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Ashton Williamson (Pelion, SC) and Jessica Blackwell (Hartsville, SC) were each 1-for-3 in the game.

Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, IL) earned the win in game two, going seven innings, allowing one run on five hits, with seven strike outs.

At the plate, Williamson was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Anna Lucas (McBee, SC) was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Haleigh Rogers (Ward, SC) was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Kimberly Atkinson (McBee, SC) was 2-for-3 and Wallett was 1-for-3.

Coker returns to the diamond on Tuesday, as they host Fairmont State in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
