Durham, N.C. – The Coker Softball team continued their road warrior ways, as they traveled to North Carolina Central University for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Cobras swept the Eagles winning game one 13-0 in five innings, and winnings game two 12-2 in six innings. The wins improve the Lady Cobras to 12-9 overall.

In game one Shelly Catlett (Orangeburg, SC) (6-5) went four innings, allowing just one hit with seven strike outs in the win.

At the plate, Haleigh Rogers (Ward, SC), Kimberly Atkinson (McBee, SC) and Eunice Nettles (Pelion, SC) were each 2-for-3. Atkinson had a home run and two RBIs, while Rogers had a double and three RBIs and Nettles had an RBI. Also collecting a RBI was Whitney Wallett (Shermans Dale, PA), going 1-for-3.

Catlett (7-5) picked up the win in game two as well for Coker, going six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with eight strike outs.

Rogers again led the Lady Cobras offense, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, while Nettles was 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Jessica Blackwell (Hartsville, SC) and Ashton Williamson (Pelion, SC) were also each 2-for-4, with Blackwell hitting a double.

Coker continues their spring break road trip, this time coming a little closer to home, as they travel to Florence, SC, for the Francis Marion Softball Tournament starting Friday. The Lady Cobras face Mercyhurst College at 3:00 p.m., followed by Shepard university at 7:00 p.m. All games will be played at the Freedom Florence Athletic Complex.
