Catawba, N.C. - The Coker Lady Cobras Softball Team won their first game of the Catawba Tournament in a six inning shortened game, defeating Shippensburg College 8-0 on Friday afternoon. The win improves the Lady Cobras to 7-6 overall.

Shelly Catlett (Orangeburg, SC) (5-3) earned the win going all six innings, allowing just three hits with five strike outs.

Eunice Nettles (Pelion, SC) led the Coker offense, going 3-for-4 witha pair of home runs and five RBIs, while Haleigh Rogers (Ward, SC) was also 3-for-4. Whittney Wallett (Shermans Dale, PA) was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Miranda Klees (Murrells Inlet, SC) was 1-for-3 with and RBI and Jessica Blackwell (Hartsville, SC) was 2-for-4.

The Lady Cobras return the diamond on Saturday, as they play a pair of games. Game one against Glenville State starts at 9:00 a.m., followed by game two against Kutztown at 1:00 p.m.
