Florence- The Coker Softball Team finished the Patriot Invitational Softball Tournament with a pair of wins over Goldey-Beacom 12-7, and Chowan 5-2. Coker finished the tournament with a 5-1 record, and improved to 14-6 overall.

 

In game one, Goldey-Beacom jumped out to an early 7-0 lead off of Coker starter Shelly Catlett. After only recording one out Catlett made way for Amanda Shelton (4-2), who shut down Goldey-Beacom, allowing only three hits and no runs over the next six and two-thirds innings to pick up the win.

 

Leading the Coker offense was Anna Lucas, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, while Kim Atkinson was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

 

Game Two saw Catlett (3-1) redeem herself as she threw four innings, allowing only two runs on four hits with four strike outs and picking up the win. Somer Bigham earned the save tossing the last three innings, allowing no runs and no hits, while striking out four.

 

For Coker Jacque Stewart was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

 

The Lady Cobras take on West Liberty State at home on Monday, with the first pitch being thrown at 2:00 p.m.
