RALEIGH, N.C. - Eunice Nettles went a combined 4-for-5 with a double, three home runs and eight RBI to power Coker College past Shaw 17-0 and 23-2 in a softball doubleheader on Saturday.

Both games were shortened to five innings.

 

In the first game, Nettles was 3-for-3 with the three homers and six RBI. She had the two-run double in the second game.

 

West Florence grad Somer Bigham tossed a perfect game in the first game, striking out 13.

Adding to Coker’s offensive outburst in the first game were Jessica Blackwell (1-for-1, HR), Amy Shelley (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI), Marie Mascio (2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI), and Kayla Buchowski (2-for-3, double).

 

Leading hitters for Coker in the second game included Shelley (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, stolen base), Mascio (2-for-3, double, RBI;), and Nicole Crider (2-for-3, 3 RBI).

 

Amanda Shelton tossed three innings of shutout ball to pick up the win in the second game. She gave up a hit, walked one and struck out five. Coker, now 5-1, plays at Anderson College on Tuesday.
