Cobras Outlast the Fleet
The Coker men’s volleyball team squared off against the Erskine Flying Fleet Tuesday (Jan. 16) night and the Cobras secured a fifth set victory off an 11-1 run. The Navy and Gold won the match 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 15-7).
DUE WEST, S.C.- The Coker men's volleyball team squared off against the Erskine Flying Fleet Tuesday (Jan. 16) night and the Cobras secured a fifth set victory off an 11-1 run. The Navy and Gold won the match 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 15-7).
Stephen Porras led the offense with 18 kills, while Gabriel Castro (14) and Joao Victor Santos (10) both ended with double-digit kills. Santos hit a blistering .692 for the match. Aleksa Bijelic collected 49 assists on the night, along with three kills and seven digs. Castro and Porras served up two aces each, and the team finished with eight total. Gary Baker defended the court effectively with his season-high 20 digs. Parker Oldham and James Fulton each assisted on three blocks, with Fulton adding five kills to the Cobra effort. Oldham contributed seven kills and eight digs alongside his blocking numbers.
The Cobras invade Charlotte, N.C. Friday, Jan. 19, night when they clash with the Royals of Queens University (N.C.). First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
