Men's Volleyball Kicks Off RAK'M Initiative by Helping Local Pet Store
The Coker men's volleyball team has started a new RAK'M program to deliver random acts of kindness to local community members.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team kick-started its brand new 'RAK'M' team initiative on Sunday (Jan. 25) afternoon. According to team captain Leshon Alexander, the project name is short for Random Acts of Kindness and is very important to the team.
"We really like getting into the community and doing our part," said Alexander. "So we get together as a team and think of ways to help better someone's day."
The first recipient of a random act of kindness from the team was Pet Lover's Warehouse in Hartsville. The team spent the afternoon cleaning up the store and catering to the stores animals.
"I am proud of the guys," said first-year head coach Eric Snyder. "It is refreshing to have not just stellar student-athletes, but great human beings that truly care for others and want to be a part of the local community."
Make sure to catch the men's volleyball team in action on Thursday (Jan. 29) night when they faceoff with the New Jersey Institute of Technology. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Coker's new DeLoach Center.
