COKER VS THE SAC INDOOR T&F CHAMPIONSHIPS

Winston-Salem, NC: The men's track and field team competed in the SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC. The Cobras finished in 12th place with a total of 4 points over the weekend.

TOP PERFORMERS:

Xavier Ratliff: 60m Hurdles | 8.74s | 6th place | 3 points

Donovan Jones: 400m | 50.46s | 8th place | 1 point

HOW IT HAPPENED:

TRACK EVENTS:

In the 60m prelims, the Cobras sent out Jeffery Stiles and Kamari Hudson to run. Stiles crossed the line first for the Cobras with a final time of 6.92s and a 12th-place finish. Moving on to the 60m dash prelims Xavier Ratliff had the best performance for the Cobras with 7th place and a final time of 8.57 to qualify for the finals in the 60m hurdles. In the 60m hurdles, Ratliff had a 6th-place finish and a final time of 8.74s to give the Cobras 3 points to the team's final score. In the 200m dash, Jefferey Stiles just beat out fellow Cobras Donovan Jones by .01 seconds for the duo to finish 10th and 11th just missing out on the qualifying time for the finals. In the 400m event, Donovan Jones finished 8th overall with a final time of 50.46 and won 1 point for the Cobras team score. In the 4X400 the Cobras took 11th overall with a final time of 3:30.6. The 4X400 team was Donovan Jones, Kamari Hudson, Phillip Davis, and Jeffery Stiles.

FIELD EVENTS:

In the field events only three Cobras competed. First was Micheal Wilson who competed in the high jump. Wilson finished in 13th overall with a final height of 1.79m. The next athlete with Tyriq Gause who competed in the long jump and the triple Jump. Gause took 21st overall in the long jump with a final distance of 6.16m and he took 16th overall in the triple jump with a final distance of 12.46m. Tyler Wanzer took 17th overall in the triple jump with a final distance of 10.87m.

This was the final day of Indoor Track and Field. The Cobras will move outdoors next for the Spring Break Invitational on March 14th and 15th.
