
STILES BRINGS HOME TO GOLD
3 Cobras finish in the top ten at the Camel City Invitational.
Winston-Salem, NC—The Cobras were on the road this weekend at the Camel City Invitational. Three of their athletes finished in the top ten of their events. In the track events, Jeffery Stiles took first place in the 200-meter dash, and in the field events, Lyniah Kitt and Dakota Jernigan both finished in the top ten.
TOP PERFORMERS:
Jeffery Stiles: 200m (22.35s) 1st place
Lyniah Kitt: Triple Jump (11.16m) 5th place
Dakota Jernigan: High Jump (1.55m) 6th place
HOW IT HAPPENED:
DAY 1: TRACK EVENTS
The first day of competition started with the men's 60m dash prelims. In this event, Donovan Jones led for the Cobras with a final time of 7 seconds. Jones just missed out on qualification finishing 9th in the event. The Men's 200m was next, Jeffery Stiles took 1st place in this event with a final time of 22.35s. Stiles just beat his teammate Donovan Jones who finished in 4th place with a final time of 22.57s. In the Women's 400m dash Patience Lisbon led the way for the Cobras as she finished 19th with a final time of 1:02.19. Then the final event of the day was the women's long jump. Jael Stauffer finished in 19th place with a final distance of 4.9m.
DAY 2: FIELD EVENTS
The second day of competition saw two Cobras finish in the top ten of their events. The first athlete was Dakota Jernigan who took 6th place in the women's high jump with a final distance of 1.55m. Lyniah Kitt competed in the women's triple jump where she took 5th place with a final distance of 11.16m. Kitt's performance put her into the top 100 (89th) in this event in division ll. Another honorable mention for the day would be Tyriq Gause who finished in 13th in the men's triple jump with a final distance of 12.62m.

The Cobras will be splitting up their team next as some members will be heading to the JDL Last Chance Invitational in Winston-Salem, NC and the rest of the team will be going to the Gamecock Challenge at the University of South Carolina.
