
THE COBRAS RACE TO A QUALITY FINISH AGAIN
Multiple Cobras find the final heat.
Winston-Salem, NC- The Coker Cobras finished up their second meet of the season. Multiple Cobras found themselves in the finals of their events and one even saw a podium finish at the JDL Mondo College Invitational.
TOP PERFORMERS:
Jeffrey Stiles: 3rd in the 60m dash | 8th in 4x400
Xavier Ratliff: 6th in 60m Hurdles | 8th in 4x400
Cody Stewart: 8th in the 1000m
Michael Wilson: 12th in the High Jump
Tyriq Gause: 10th in the Triple Jump | 8th in 4x400
Phillip Davis: 8th in 4x400
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The day started off with the men's 60-meter dash. Three athletes participated in this event but Jeffrey Stiles qualified to go to the final event. Stiles ended up finishing 3rd in the 60-meter dash giving the Cobras the only podium finish of the day. In the 60-meter hurdles, only one Cobra made it through to the finals. Xavier Ratliff had a finishing time of 8.7 seconds which got him into the final where he finished 6th with a final time of 8.5 seconds. In the 200m dash, Donovan Jones found himself finishing in 5th place overall with a final time of 23.27 seconds. The 1,000m race had another Cobra finishing in the top ten as Cody Stewart finished in 8th place. The triple jump is the only field event where the cobras found themselves in a top ten finish as Tyriq Guase finished in 10th place with a final distance of 12.9 meters. To finish off the day the Cobras ran in the 4X400 relay. The relay team made up of Xavier Ratliff, Phillip Davis, Tyriq Gause, and Jeffrey Stiles finished 8th overall with a final time of 3:37.99.
