Pearsall-Garcia Breaks Indoor 60m Record Again as Cobras Compete at Liberty Open

Hartsville, S.C.- The Coker University Men's Track & Field team traveled to the Liberty Open today in Lynchburg, Virginia, as the men's team was able to put up solid performances across the board as the team gears up for their Conference Indoor Championship Meet starting on Friday, February 23rd. Here are the results from today's contest.

On The Track

60m

In the 60m Dash, Yazeare Pearsall-Garcia and Jeffery Stiles competed or the Cobras, both breaking the seven seconds in the prelims of the 60m Dash. Stiles would finish in 13th in the semi-finals with a time of 6.95, as Pearsall would claim the top spot in the 60m Dash by .03 seconds with a time of 6.81, which would match the time that he broke the original school record for Coker last week. This allowed Pearsall-Garcia the opportunity to compete in the finals, placing 2nd overall with a time of 6.80 seconds, breaking his 60m record again for the second time in a week.

1 Mile

In the men's one mile race, Coker would call on Josh Zeigler, who would go on to finish with a time of 5:03.15.

400m

For the men's 400m dash, the Cobras would get another top 15 finish on the day from Donovan Jones. Jones would finish 12th overall in the 400m dash, clocking in with a time of 51.10.

800m

In the 800m, Coker would send three athletes to compete. Philip Davis was the first to finish Cobras, clocking in a time of 2:07.64. Austin Bates, was second to finish for the Cobras, not finishing far behind his teammate Davis, as Bates was able to complete the 800m run with a time of 2:07.81. Rounding out the 800m for the Cobras was Nicholas Hallis, who finished with a time of 2:18.06 for the Cobras.

200m

In the 200m, Jeffery Stiles and Donovan Jones would compete and finish with a top 20 finish each respectively. Stiles would finish in the top 10 in seventh place with a time of 21.90. Jones would go on to finish in 19th for the Cobras, clocking a time of 22.36 to round out the 200 for the Cobras.

In The Field

Shot Put

In shot put, Luke Baker was able to finish first for the Cobras, with his best throw being marked down at 33' 5". William Fraizer would finish second for Coker, with his best throw coming at 30' 10 1/4". Rounding out shot put for Coker was Jaden Wright, with his best throw being marked at 25' 6 1/2".

High Jump

In high jump, Braeden Rasco was able to secure a top 25 finish for the Cobras as clearing 5' 4 3/4", earning 23rd overall in the meet.

Up Next For Coker

Coker's next meet will be on February 17th, at the USC Indoor Open. This will be the Cobras' last meet before their Indoor Conference Championship Meet the following week.
