How It Happened
The Cobras started out with an overpowering performance, digging USC Sumter into a 3-0 hole before singles even began. Only seven doubles games were dropped in total as they moved on to singles with a confident mindset. For the most part, singles were just the same. Wins on every court sealed a 9-0 victory as the Cobras can head home with their heads held high.
Notables
- The match-up was played under JUCO scoring rules and, as it was against a JUCO, was marked as an exhibition match. JUCO rules include that every match is its own point, including doubles, which under Division II rules is only one singular point.
- Between the six singles matches, only one went to a third-set tiebreak (court four). One set on court six went 7-5, but, other than those things, this match was without drama.
- Lamers secured his first victories of the season at the one slot in both doubles and singles
- Van Asdonck recorded his first career wins here at Coker, teaming up with Lamers at one doubles and winning in straight sets at the six singles spot.
Men's Tennis will head back to the Sumter Invitational tomorrow to face off against Johnson C. Smith. The start time for that contest will be at 2:00 PM ET.
