How It Happened
It was a heartbreaking end to the doubles point that saw the Cobras fall 1-0 early on to the Bearcats. After a 6-3 loss at the one spot, the Cobras were in a battle at the two and three spots. Winter and partner Benedikt Wittmann secured a 7-5 gritty win at second doubles, and it looked to be a good spot on court three as well. Up 5-3 and 40-love, the Cobras took a heartbreaking 7-5 loss on that court as the Bearcats secured the doubles point.
Singles play had some great match-ups on multiple courts that provided for must-see tennis action. The premier match was on court four as Winter found himself in a ten-point match tiebreak, winning the first set 6-3 and dropping the second 1-6. In a clutch effort, he took the tiebreak at 10-7 to secure the lone team point for the Cobras. He was the last one on the court, and his match sealed the result at 6-1 in favor of Lander.
Notables
Winter is a perfect 4-0 in singles this season, earning a 3-0 mark at third singles and now a 1-0 mark at fourth singles. It hasn't been without its fair share of drama, though, as he won a three-setter in his first match of the year and a match tiebreak in his latest one.
