Andy Huynh: 7-5, 6-2 win at fifth singles
How It Happened:
The Cobras opened with the doubles victory to head up 1-0 in matchplay. A Huynh and Joao Casas Moreira 6-4 win on court three gave them the early advantage, while Winter and Benedikt Wittmann brought it home with a 7-5 victory on court two. Court one was up a break at 6-5 before the point was clinched.
In singles, the Cobras fell down 3-1 early with losses on courts one, four, and six, respectively. However, they weren't quite done fighting, as Huynh's big victory on court five pulled them within one. It all came down to courts two and three, who both entered into third sets.
Winter, slotting in at third singles, fought tooth-and-nail after dropping the first set 1-6. He earned the right to continue to a third set in an enthralling 7-5 second, then dominated his opponent in a third set 6-0. As it came down to court two, an unfortunate end to a great match saw the Cobras fall 4-3 in their first match of the year.
