Men's Tennis Grabs Huge SAC Win Over UVA-Wise

Hartsville, SC - Men's tennis grabbed the 5-2 win over the Cavaliers of UVA-Wise this afternoon with great play all-around from everyone involved.

The day started off with doubles as the Cobras swept all three courts with 6-4 scores at each one. Tom Lamers and Thibaut Decaluwe took the win on court one, Samuel Winter and Bernardo Peralta took the win on court two, and Andy Huyhn and Joao Casas Moreira took the win on court three.

Up 1-0, Coker needed wins on three of the six singles courts to take the victory, but got four instead. First off the court was Winter with a quick 6-3, 6-1 win in straight sets on court three. After dropping the next two matches on court one and court three, it was all even at 2-2 as the last three matches came onto the court. Lamers was off first with a 6-4, 6-1 decisive win on court two, and Huyhn then provided the clincher on court four with a 6-4, 6-2 win. To add an exclamation point to the victory, Carlos Fernando Nau defeated his opponent 6-3, 7-6 on court six, solidifying a 5-2 Coker win.

The Cobras will have a few days off before the Indians of Catawba come to town on Thursday, April 4th. First serve for that one will be at 1:00 PM at Byerly Park.
