Men's Tennis Claims First Conference Win Over Anderson

Hartsville, SC - Men's Tennis got a great first conference win this afternoon here in Hartsville, defeating the Trojans of Anderson University by a score of 5-2.

The day started off with the Cobras up 1-0 as they snatched the doubles point from the Trojans. Thibaut Decaluwe and Tom Lamers claimed a 6-2 victory on court one, while Andy Huyhn and Joao Casas Moreira took a 6-4 victory on court three to seal the deal.

In singles play, the Cobras needed a victory on just three of the six courts to take the win, but went out and took four of them for good measure. Three of the singles courts held dominant victories, with Lamers claiming a resounding 6-2, 6-3 victory in straight sets on court two, Sam Winter grabbing a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory on court three, and Moreira dominating his opponent 6-2, 6-1 on court five. Bernardo Peralta also grabbed a victory on court six, fighting in a come-from-behind three-set match to win 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.

The Cobras are back in action on Saturday, again at home. This time, their opponent will be conference-foe Tusculum. That match will be held at Byerly Park in Hartsville with a first serve slated for 1:00 PM ET.
