NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Coker University men’s tennis team opened its South Atlantic Conference season with a 4-3 win over Newberry College on Saturday (Feb. 26).
NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Coker University men's tennis team opened its South Atlantic Conference season with a 4-3 win over Newberry College on Saturday (Feb. 26).
The Cobras picked up one victory in doubles as Samuel Winter/Thibaut Decaluwe won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, but Newberry would win the doubles point.
Coker would respond, as Thibaut Decaluwe won at No. 2 singles 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and Isaac MacMillan was victorious at No. 3 singles by a 7-5, 6-3 scoreline. Samuel Winter followed up with a win at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-4. Freshman Nolan Smith had the deciding victory for the Cobras as he clinched the win at No. 6 singles 7-6(10-4), 7-5.
The Cobras will be back on the courts Tuesday (Mar. 1), when they visit Queens (N.C.) at 2 p.m.. Coverage can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
