Men's Tennis Starts 2020 with 4-3 Victory over Benedict

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University men's tennis team began its 2020 campaign with a 4-3 victory over Benedict on Saturday (Feb. 15).

Coker swept doubles play to earn the doubles point, beginning with a 6-2 victory from Justus Lehmann and Tim Schroeder over Batsiraii Saurombe and Mark Chgaazira at No. 1. Isaac MacMillan and Hunter Horton defeated Julius Mutetwa and Taj Ballantyne 6-1 at No. 2, before Fabrizio Tucci and Walker Long teamed up for a 6-4 win over Nikola Aleksic and Armando Flores at No. 3.

Coker would win three out of six singles matches on the day to take the victory. Lehmann would defeat Saurombe 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, before Carlos Pinedo defeated Ballantyne 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4. MacMillan would earn a 6-0, 6-3 win over Aleksic at No. 5 singles to help the Cobras to victory.

The Cobras (1-0) are back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 18) to travel to Francis Marion for a non-conference match. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
