Watt, Horton, and Hellbe Earn SAC Men’s Tennis All-Conference Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Coker's Mark Watt, Henrik Hellbe, and Hunter Horton earned South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis All-Conference honors, the league announced today. Watt was named to the first team for singles play, while Horton was selected to the honorable mention team for singles competition. Additionally, Watt and Hellbe earned first team honors in doubles play.

Watt, a senior from Glasgow, Scotland has been having an impressive year with a 16-5 record at No. 1 singles, which includes a 7-3 mark in SAC competition.  A four-year member of the Coker men's tennis team, Watt has posted a stellar career with 49 singles victories, the most in Coker men's tennis history, and 40 wins in doubles play, good for second in the Coker record books. Along with this year, Watt earned SAC All-Conference honors during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. In addition, Watt was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete. He is the son of Colette and Mark Watt. He has two sisters; Olivia and Grace.

Horton, a sophomore from Lugoff, S.C. posted a solid year from the No. 2 position in singles competition, recording an 11-10 overall record. In his second year competing for the Navy and Gold, Horton has tallied 22 career singles victories and 23 wins in doubles competition. This is Horton's first All-Conference selection. Additionally, Horton was named an ITA Scholar Athlete last season. He is the son of Pam and Todd Horton. He has one sibling; Tyler.

Hellbe, a senior from Stockholm, Sweden, has played to a 12-8 mark in doubles action alongside Watt. The duo of Hellbe and Watt have bested their SAC opponents, earning a 7-2 record in conference competition. This is Hellbe's first All-Conference selection. A three-year member of the Coker men's tennis team, Hellbe has picked up 15 singles victories and 26 wins in doubles action. In addition, Hellbe was named an ITA Scholar Athlete. He is the son of Lisa and Torbjorn Hellbe. He has two siblings; Martin and Erica.

The Coker College men's tennis team (11-10 overall) will travel to Queens today (Apr. 18) to take on the Royals in the South Atlantic Conference Championship quarterfinals at 2 p.m.
