MEN'S SOCCER HEADED TO NATIONAL TOURNAMENT, EARNS 3 SEED IN SOUTHEAST REGION
Hartsville, SC – The Cobras are dancing! For the first time since 2021, Coker is headed to the NCAA DII National Tournament. And, for the first time, they do so with an at-large bid; a true testament to their record-breaking season.
The Cobras compiled a 13-1-1 regular season which culminated in a South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Co-Championship. They were as high as the fourth-ranked team in the country and were also named the second-seeded team in the SAC Postseason Tournament.
Things didn't quite go Coker's way in the SAC Tournament after a 3-2 win over seventh-seeded Catawba at home led to a 2-1 OT loss to the sixth-seeded Bears of Lenior-Rhyne. These two contests lead us to a current Cobra record of 14-2-1, and luckily, the season doesn't stop there.
The Cobras earned the third seed in the Southeast Region. Some familiar faces joining them in the bracket are Limestone (first seed), Mars Hill (eighth seed), and Francis Marion (ninth seed), all of which Coker faced in the regular season. Limestone and FMU earned an automatic bid by winning the South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas tournaments, respectively, while Mars Hill earned an automatic bid due to their body of work.
With their seeding, Coker earned the right to host a first-round match-up against sixth-seeded Auburn-Montgomery. That game will take place on the Coker Athletic Turf at 3:00 PM ET on Sunday, November 24th. Should the bracket go chalk, that would mean a trip to Boca Raton, FL in the Sweet Sixteen to face off against Lynn.
