Matthews, NC - The Cobras' undefeated streak came to an end this afternoon, falling to the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne 2-1 in golden-goal overtime in the South Atlantic Conference tournament.
A huge back-and-forth contest culminated in a 1-0 lead for Coker at half as Yvan Malarte scored off a corner kick to take the lead right before halftime. Shortly after the break, LR answered right back to tie it up 1-1 with a lot of game time left to go.
A stagnant forty minutes of play led to overtime being needed. After a few great Coker chances, LR put away the stunner to send them to the final.
The Cobras will now turn their attention to the regional tournament draw, where they are likely to secure an at-large bid. They will discover whether they will host opening round action or whether they will have to travel to secure a win.
