Mars Hill, NC - For just the second time this season, the Cobras found themselves trailing and their backs against the wall with the threat of losing their coveted undefeated streak. With some late-game heroics, the Cobras battled to a 2-2 tie against the 25th-ranked Lions of Mars Hill.
One Lion goal in the first half and another early in the second half gave the Cobras a tough hill to climb. They just as easily could've rolled over an accepted defeat down 2-0, but that's not what championship-caliber teams do.
A strike from Vitalis Takawira Jr. cut the deficit in half in the 73rd minute. Fifteen minutes passed by and things were looking grim for the Cobras. However, with just over two minutes left in the game, Oskar Kaufmann scored off a Frederic Benedix pass to even it all up at 2-2 in the 88th minute.
The game ended in a draw, the Cobras' first game of that sort this year. They move to a 12-1-1 record on the season and will now set their sights on Wingate, who the Cobras host in Hartsville on Wednesday. Kick-off for that contest is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.
