Florence, SC - Men's Soccer continued their roll this evening, downing the Patriots of Francis Marion 2-0 on the road in a mid-week non-conference rivalry match-up.
In another first half that saw the teams draw even, we went into the halftime break tied at 0-0. This is the fourth time this season that the Cobras have been tied at nil-nil at the halftime break and pulled out the win (5-0 W over Lees-McRae, 4-2 W over Carson-Newman, 4-0 W over Emory & Henry, and tonight's 2-0 W over FMU).
Just like the game against E&H on Sunday, the Cobras scored close to the start of the second half. This time, however, it came off a screamer of a shot by Jorhan Chopin from 35 yards out to take the lead at 1-0. Chopin intercepted the ball off an FMU-deflected pass and didn't think twice about firing one off. The scoring in this one was rounded out by yet another Oskar Kaufmann goal in the 63rd minute, his eighth on the season. That goal was assisted by Frederic Benedix, who notched his seventh on the season with that one. Charlie Walker kept the clean sheet in goal, recording 3 saves on the day.
The Cobras will travel back to Hartsville and will host the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne as they get back to South Atlantic Conference play. Kick-off for that contest will be at 7:00 PM ET.
