Men's Soccer Has Three Named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The United Soccer Coaches released their 2021 Scholar All-Region honors yesterday (Dec. 16). The Coker men's soccer team had three named to the South Region Scholar All-Region Team. 

Junior Jacques Fokam-Sandeu was awarded Scholar All-Region. The forward from Paris, France scored 14 goals and six assists and led the conference in points with 34 while being tied in the conference this season for goals. He is currently 14th in the country in points. He was named First Team All-Conference and was named the SAC Tournament MVP, he was also named to D2CCA All-Region Second Team, United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. The Business Administration major has a 3.89 grade point average and is the son of Jean Fokam-Sandeu. 

Senior Hugo Jonsson was awarded Scholar All-Region, the midfielder from Malmo, Sweden recorded three goals and an assist the season, including the game-winner against Wingate on Oct. 13. Jonsson was also named Second Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region this year. The psychology major has a 3.46 gpa and is the son of Anders and Cecilia Jönsson.

Senior Gustavo Palmieri was also awarded Scholar All-Region, the defender from Sao Paulo, Brazil recorded one goal and four assists this season, and netted the game-winner on Sept. 25 against Tusculum. Palmieri was also named Third Team All-Conference this year and named to the Southeast All-Region Third Team. The senior business administration major has a 3.54 gpa and is the son of Paulo Palmieri and Regina Palmieri.
