Coker Drops Saturday Non-Conference Match to Francis Marion

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's soccer team fell to the Francis Marion University Patriots by a score of 2-1 in Saturday's (Sept. 16) non-conference match. 

Francis Marion struck first, scoring goals in the 24th and 27th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the lock rooms at half. 

Jacob Simonis cut the deficit in half in the 33rd minute, finding the back of the net for the second time this season. However, the Cobras were unable to tie the match during the remainder of the contest. 

Simonis and Aladdin Elfares led the way for the Cobras offensively. The pair of Coker forwards fired four shots each, with Simonis recording the lone goal on the evening. Quadarius Grate, Chris Bordelon, Joao Silva, Cameron McDonald, and Connor Yost all logged shots as well. In goal, Justin Walker collected three saves. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Sept. 20) when they travel to Anderson to take on the Trojans in a South Atlantic Conference match. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
