HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's soccer team has been spending some time in the Coker community and Hartsville area, lending a hand with various community service projects.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, the Coker men's soccer team helped unload truckloads of food and other supplies at Embrace Hospice. Hurricane Matthew brought near hurricane-force winds to the Pee Dee area, along with 10 inches of rain, widespread power outages and a significant amount of tree and road damage.

The Cobras continued their community service work by doing some landscaping and helping unearth the secret garden behind the Drengaelen House, which is the home of Coker's Office of Institutional Advancement, Office of Alumni Relations and Office of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Lastly, Coker men's soccer spent some time at the local soup kitchen, helping serve food to all those that stopped in.

"As a program, we are fully aware of how much the community does for Coker College," said head men's soccer coach Chris Williams. "I am very proud of the guys, as they do a fantastic job of giving back to the community, which does so much for our students. It's great to see them developing as servant leaders"

The Cobras finished the 20l6 season with seven wins and a trip to the South Atlantic Conference Championship semifinals.
